Thankful Hearts and Full Shelves – A Weekend of Giving for the Branford Food Pantry

What a weekend of generosity and community spirit!

This past weekend, the Branford Food Pantry (BFP) saw an incredible outpouring of support for our Thanksgiving Food Drive. Volunteers worked tirelessly to receive, unpack, and stock over 8,500 pounds of food and countless donations to help fill Thanksgiving baskets for our Branford neighbors in need.

We are deeply grateful to the incredible organizations, volunteers, and donors who made this one of our biggest and most successful holiday food collection weekends of the year.

Special thanks go to these amazing partners:

  • Premier Building Associates donated 150 turkeys, ensuring many families will have a delicious Thanksgiving centerpiece.
  • Sylvan Point Condos brought in 415 pounds of food and generously contributed cash donations.
  • The Indian Neck Yacht Club Auxiliary hosted a creative “Fill a Boat” food drive, contributing an astounding 1,389 pounds of food and cash donations.
  • The Italian American Club collected 328 pounds of food, including 13 turkeys, through their thoughtful food drive.
  • The Branford Police Department’s “Give a Cop the Bird” turkey drive collected 21 turkeys, 266 pounds of food, and cash donations at the Barnford Big Y World Class Market to benefit both the Community Dining Room and the Branford Food Pantry.
  • Vox Church volunteers blew us away with 7,037 pounds of donations, ensuring full shelves for our Thanksgiving baskets.

To all the volunteers who gave their time and energy, unpacking and stocking thousands of pounds of food, we couldn’t do this without you. Your dedication ensures that our Branford neighbors can enjoy a warm, festive Thanksgiving meal with their loved ones.

If you are a Branford resident in need of a Thanksgiving basket, don’t forget to sign up by Friday, November 22, at 5 PM. Visit our Thanksgiving Basket Page for more information.

Thank you for making this Thanksgiving season brighter for so many in our community. Together, we are stronger, kinder, and more connected.
