State Bond Commission Approves $100,000 in Funding for Branford Food Pantry

December 20, 2025

The Branford Food Pantry, Inc. is proud and grateful to announce that the State Bond Commission has approved $100,000 in state funding to support critical infrastructure improvements at our pantry.

This funding—championed by State Senator Christine Cohen, with the support of State Representative Robin Comey and State Representative Moira Rader—will allow the pantry to replace key infrastructure, such as an aging conveyor belt that moves thousands of pounds of food through our facility every day, as well as upgrade our flooring to durable, commercial-grade flooring.

These upgrades will significantly improve the safety, efficiency, and longevity of our operations as we continue to meet growing community needs.

Recently, members of our state delegation visited the Branford Food Pantry and saw firsthand the impact of our work. Operated by a team made up of 100% dedicated volunteers, the pantry currently provides groceries to more than 200 families each week, offering critical support to Branford residents facing food insecurity.

With rising food and household costs affecting families across Connecticut, the role of the Branford Food Pantry has never been more essential. This investment ensures we can continue serving our neighbors with dignity, efficiency, and care.

We extend our sincere thanks to Governor Ned Lamont, the State Bond Commission, and our local legislators for recognizing the importance of food access in our community. We are also deeply grateful to Jaye Andrews and our volunteer team, whose commitment and compassion make this work possible every single day.

This funding represents more than an infrastructure upgrade—it is an investment in the health, stability, and well-being of Branford families.
