On Saturday, September 13, 2025, the Branford Food Pantry will join NBC, Telemundo and Stop & Shop for the annual Feeding Our Families food drive—a multistate effort to fight hunger and keep local food pantries stocked for the months ahead. From 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., volunteers from the Branford Food Pantry will be stationed at the entrances of the Branford Stop & Shop at 22 Leetes Island Road (Exit 56 off I-95) to collect donations directly from shoppers.
This important community event comes at a time when food insecurity remains a pressing issue for families across Connecticut. Every donation, whether big or small, helps put meals on the table for neighbors who might otherwise go without. The Branford Food Pantry relies on the generosity of the community to meet growing needs, and Feeding Our Families is a chance for everyone to get involved in a simple, impactful way.
How to participate: Shoppers are encouraged to pick up a few extra items during their regular grocery trip and drop them with volunteers on their way out of the store. Some of the most-needed items include:
- Canned black beans, soups, vegetables, and fruit
- Canned proteins such as tuna, chicken, ham, and corned beef
- Peanut butter, rice, cereal, and pasta
- Shelf-stable almond and oat milk
- Snack-size raisins
- Baby food
By donating these pantry staples, residents can make a direct impact on the lives of Branford families. Together, with the support of NBC, Telemundo and Stop & Shop, our community can come together to ensure that no one goes hungry.
